Wellington’s Waterfront just got a whole lot better with four new word ‘sculptures’ for Wellington Writers Walk. Designed by architect Fiona Christeller, the concept is simple and subtle, and a little bit quirky. (Look for the pole!) The newly celebrated writers are Jack Lasenby, Joy Cowley, Sir James McNeish and Elizabeth Knox. Their words were unveiled in a happy occasion yesterday
by Governor-General Sir Jerry Mateparae. Congratulations to all concerned.

Hi there
Yesterday I came in to walk the Writers’ Walk using the new booklet, and to find the 4 new writers who are not in the new booklet.
I enjoyed the walk finding 18 of the 19 writers. No1 Eileen Duggan I could not find even with the photo & talking to people who were in the vicinity.
James K Baxter I found, but it is not marked on the map – No15.
I did not find any of the 4 latest writers, to my disappointment. The other websites I have visited do not mention any of the 4 new ones. Your website is the only place I have found anything.
Am I going blind? I need a wee map.
Can you tell me who I should contact to get this information please?
Alison Hawthorne
Hi Alison,
I’m glad you enjoyed the Wellington Writers Walk. Rosemary Wildblood is the chairperson of the committee and you can contact her at rowil@slingshot.co.nz. Rosemary tells me that updates of their website and booklet are pending. The Eileen Duggan plaque may be under repair.
